For Von Schneider, Metalworking is an artform. Our steel is made and
melted in North America. Scribed, cut, welded, ground, & finished by craftspeople
dedicated to keeping the art of Metalworking alive in our ever-growing technological world
Our finishing processes are painstaking, time consuming, and delicate. All metal surfaces are ground
down to bare, shiny metal. Then, after thorough cleaning, chemicals known by few are used to turn the metal
Black. This chemical change is known as Black Oxide. A rare finish in a sea of powder coats, paints, and plating.
The word 'Nigredo' is the Latin word for blackness. Nigredo is known in the
ancient alchemical texts as the first step when turning a base metal into gold. Von Schneider
continues this time tested oxidation process to provide a finish rarely seen elsewhere

The Von Schneider Western Bronze is a finish discovered in the North American
Rocky Mountains. Touches of black, gold, bronze, and brown catch the eyes as
different light moves across the room. This finish makes for a true conversation piece
